Position Title: Communications Assistant

B-REBEL COMMUNICATIONS is an entertainment communications agency based out of Toronto. Founded in 2016 with a singular focus on Canadian theatre and film by Ashley Belmer, B-REBEL has been steadily expanding ever since. B-REBEL is all about supporting arts and culture in Canada through communications and creativity, with some of Toronto’s leading arts organizations on its roster.
B-REBEL creates tailored and unique communications campaigns every performance / festival it takes on, and each one is tailored specifically to the project.
Job Description:
Client Research and Development; Social Media Research and Development;
General Communication with Membership and Public; etc.
Assist with the development of a communications strategy, including:
-identifying potential affinity organizations (e.g., schools, public institutions, NGOs, etc.);
-developing information and communication media (webpages, flyers, brochures, clips, etc)
-developing advocacy, marketing or political campaigns
Responsibilities:
- Respond to e-mail inquiries;
- Collect and distribute press clippings daily;
- Research, edit, draft, and disseminate publicity materials and creative copy;
- Conduct research on communications, client, and project-related matters, as required;
- Complete time-sensitive tasks;
- Assist with coordination and on-site execution of various events;
- Assist with social media efforts, as required;
- Assist with promotional research, grassroots outreach;
- Assist with the development and regular updating of media lists and other - databases;
- Help create and send out pitches to the media for various clients;
- Various administrative duties;
- Any knowledge in digital marketing is an asset;
Qualifications:
- Superior oral and written communication skills (writing samples may be requested);
- Exceptional interpersonal skills;
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and is able to hustle;
- Ability to work independently, and is highly motivated and ambitious;
- Ability to exercise sound judgment;
- Ability to work well individually and with a team;
- Excellent phone manner;
- Ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point);
- Ability to use Google Docs and Google Sheets;
- Ability to use Mailchimp and WordPress is an asset;
- Passionate about arts, culture, and entertainment, specifically theatre, is an asset;
- Adaptable to a flexible work schedule including some evenings and weekends;
- Experience within an agency setting an asset;
- Knowledge and experience using various social media platforms an asset;
- Experience in Adobe Creative Suite is an asset;
- Ability to speak additional languages an asset;
